Samuel Ben-Or Avital is a professionally trained mime artist, teacher of mime, kinesthetic awareness, and Kabbalah. In 1971, Mr. Avital founded Le Centre du Silence Mime School (See, “History of Le Centre du Silence Mime School”) in Boulder, Colorado. He is author of He is the author of The Invisible Stairway: Kabbalistic Meditations on The Hebrew Letters. He is also author of The BodySpeak Manual.
Here he describes his childhood growing up in Morocco in family with a long tradition of Jewish, Sephardic, Kabbalistic rabbis. He also describes the relationship between his study of Kabbalah and his work as a mime artist and teacher. He points out that there is a method, within Kabbalah, to dive into the deeper meaning of every word or concept — by understanding the meaning of the letters that make up each word. He also describes Kabbalistic history and philosophy.
