G-bo was given a life sentence as a youth, in California Youth Authority terms that is 25 years old. California Youth Authority (CYA) was a Prison for youth offenders, ranging in age from 12 to 25 years old. It was later changed to The California Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). The DJJ is undergoing reorganization as required by a court agreement and the California State Legislature after widespread criticisms of conditions at its youth prisons.
