The Moment of Death with Karlene Stange

Karlene Stange, DVM, is author of The Spiritual Nature of Animals: A Country Vet Explores the Wisdom, Compassion, and Souls of Animals.

Here she points out that veterinarians typically experience the death of animals on a daily basis. In many instances, pet owners cannot afford medical care and therefore request that their animals be euthanized. At the beginning of her career she found it difficult emotionally to watch animals die. Now, she feels that it is an honor to be present at that moment. Like birth, she explains, the moment of death is a sacred time.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series.
