Ancient Egypt and Modern Culture

Todd Hayen, PhD, is author of Ancient Egypt and Modern Psychotherapy: Sacred Science and the Search for Soul. He is a psychotherapist in private practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Here he describes the various attitudes toward ancient Egyptian culture held by western scholars, adventurers, and archeologists. He notes that the materialistic bias of modern culture makes it difficult for us to appreciate the spirituality evidenced in the Egyptian culture where the religion was not considered a separate function, but was well integrated into the life of the people. He also suggests that the ancient Egyptians may have excelled in cultivating parapsychological abilities.
