Sylvia Boorstein, PhD, clinical psychologist and Buddhist meditation teacher, is author of It’s Easier Than You Think, Don’t Just Do Something, Sit There and That’s Funny, You Don’t Look Buddhist. Here she presents the essence of the eightfold path and the four noble truths of Buddhism. She discusses Vipassana–or mindfulness–meditation which entails detaching from the thoughts, cravings and aversions that pass through the mind. Through this practice one gains insight into the impermanence of all mental states.
