Retired Marine Raider and Scout Sniper Cody Alford sits down with VladTV to reflect on his path from Texas teenager to combat Marine after 9/11, and the brutal realities he faced in Iraq. Alford details his role with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines during the Battle of Fallujah, where 95 U.S. service members were killed and 560 wounded, including surviving a headshot to his Kevlar helmet on his first day in the city. He describes close-quarters firefights, Echo Company, Delta Force support, Operation Steel Curtain, Ramadi, foreign fighters, Saddam Hussein’s former compounds, and the toll of urban warfare. Alford also discusses deployments to Afghanistan, the Taliban, the U.S. withdrawal, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, veterans’ mental health, and his post-military life. The conversation expands to war, media narratives, Israel-Palestine, Iran, and the human cost of combat.
