In this VladTV interview, Carlos Lehder details his journey from Armenia, Colombia, to New York, prison in Danbury, and the cocaine routes that helped define the Medellín Cartel era. Lehder discusses meeting Jorge “Boston George” Jung, building the Norman’s Cay operation in the Bahamas, working with Pablo Escobar, and why he says the “cartel” was never a single unified organization. He also addresses the M-19 kidnapping attempt, MAS, Colombian politics, Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, Luis Carlos Galán, his 1987 extradition, and the U.S. case that led to life plus 135 years.

Lehder reflects on cooperating in the Manuel Noriega trial, witness protection, 33 years in federal prison, release in 2020, life in Germany and Colombia, and portrayals in Blow and Netflix’s Narcos. He also shares his warning on drug trafficking, comparing past narco empires with El Chapo and today’s law enforcement technology.
