The Ego and Its Matrix with Cate Montana

Cate Montana, MA, is author of Unearthing Venus: My Search for the Woman Within and is coauthor of The Heart of the Matter and Underground Physics. Her most recent book is The E-Word: Ego, Enlightenment and Other Essentials.

Here she points out that our deep self, as science and mysticism both confirm, is pure awareness. In fact, we are one with the entire universe. However, our egos function to create stories about ourselves as separate individuals, each with a life history. This is a natural and necessary as we are biological creatures. However, the stories that the egos weave ultimately can serve as prisons. We become trapped within our own thoughts. The cure for this pitfall is to develop a sense of transpersonal awareness.
