Mark Zuckerberg: First Interview in the Metaverse | Lex Fridman Podcast #398
Why this one hits different
Two people in different places, talking face to face as photorealistic 3D avatars. Lex Fridman Podcast #398 was billed as the first interview in the metaverse, and it looks like nothing else in podcasting.
Who is Mark Zuckerberg?
Zuckerberg is the co-founder and CEO of Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and the Quest virtual-reality headsets. This was recorded around the launch of the Quest 3.
What's on the table
Lex and Zuckerberg talk about the metaverse and the technology behind the realistic avatars they're using, the Quest 3, the nature of reality, AI in virtual worlds, large language models and the future of humanity. The chapter list jumps to each topic.
Why it's worth your time
Watch at least the first few minutes. Seeing two lifelike avatars hold a normal conversation is the clearest demo of where Meta thinks computing is headed, whatever you think of the metaverse.
