William Noguera sits down with Vlad to recount the moment he was sentenced to death at 23 and transferred to San Quentin, where he became one of California’s youngest condemned prisoners after Proposition 7 and the Briggs Initiative era. Noguera describes arriving on death row, time in the Adjustment Center, and the racial politics that shaped daily life inside the prison system.
He also recalls living just three cells away from Stanley “Tookie” Williams, the Crips co-founder, describing him as intelligent, soft-spoken and physically imposing. The conversation also covers high-profile inmates at San Quentin, including Richard Ramirez, the “Night Stalker,” and what Noguera says happened when Ramirez entered the yard. From prison hierarchy to infamous serial killers like Lawrence Bittaker, Rodney Alcala and others, Noguera offers a firsthand look at survival, reputation and violence on California’s death row.
